In this post, you will learn how to install Iris Shaders for Minecraft 1.18. With Iris Shaders, you can use Sodium, Fabric mods and 1.18 shaders all together!
How To Get Started
To get started, you want to open the Minecraft Launcher. If you haven’t already, you may need to log in before you can play Minecraft. The first thing you want to do is select Minecraft 1.18 from the list of profiles. What this does, is download and install Minecraft 1.18 to your pc, which is required if you want to install Fabric for Minecraft 1.18.
Once you’ve selected Minecraft 1.18, click Play and wait for the game to launch. Once you’ve made it to the main menu of the game, you have successfully installed Minecraft 1.18.
The next step is to download 📦 Fabric Mod loader. Once on this page, under installation, click the word here. On the download page, click Download Installer (Windows/.EXE). This will download a Windows installer. If you’re not on Windows, you can use the Universal/.JAR installer.
Once this file finishes downloading, you want to open the program. After opening the Fabric installer, you can now click Install, and it will start installing Fabric. Once that’s done, open your Minecraft Launcher again. If the Fabric installation was successful, you should now see a new Fabric profile in the launcher.
Sodium and Iris Shaders for Minecraft 1.18
The last step is to add the mods. This will be Sodium and Iris Shaders for this tutorial, use the links at the top of this post to download the mods.
After the download is complete, navigate to your search bar (on your PC, not your browser!) and type %appdata% and hit Enter or click search. Doing so should open up a folder with a bunch of other folders in it. Find the folder called .minecraft and open it, this folder is usually at the top of the list. Once in this folder, right click and select Create new folder and call it mods (all lowercase). Drag the Sodium and Iris Shaders files over in to the mods folder. You’re almost done!
Now all there’s left to do is install the shaders. Go up one level, so you’re back inside the .minecraft folder. If you’ve never installed shaders before, you may need to create a new folder called shaderpacks. After creating that folder, drag in the Oceano Shaders zip file, and close all windows.
Now load up Minecraft, select the Fabric profile in the bottom left corner and click Play! Enjoy Sodium, Iris Shaders and your favorite shaderpacks!
